At Whitecross we do not just prepare our students for exams, we prepare them for life. Our Careers Programme is rated as one of the best features of school provision in student and parent surveys. Each year we help guide students onto a successful future post Whitecross.
Our Careers Programme is designed to comply with the eight Gatsby benchmarks which form the basis of the Government’s strategy to improve careers education nationally and forms part of OFSTED’s school inspection process. It is audited every term to ensure continued compliance: Compass Evaluation November 2024
The effectiveness of our Careers Programme is reflected in the numbers of students progressing to positive destinations such as colleges of further education, apprenticeships or employment. Destination data is used to assess how successfully students make the transition into the next stage of education or training and to inform future provision.
Percentage of students continuing in education, employment or training:
2021 98% 2020 92% 2019 92%
Careers planning is a key aspect of our work. All students have access to Start to support them in their journey. Parents and carers are encouraged to utilise Start with their child and invited to join us in showing the breadth of careers available to our students. Supporting High Starters by working in conjunction with Hereford Sixth Form College, Oriel College Oxford and Christ’s College Cambridge provides another opportunity to inspire and raise aspirations.
