The Whitecross English department share a love, passion and enthusiasm for Literature and Language.
We believe that through our enriching, exciting and knowledge-rich curriculum we are able to provide all students with the best chance of success in their post-16 education and beyond. Our subject speaks to the soul and spirit of our young people, as well as being the medium through which they develop the essential life skill of communication through the written and spoken word.
This means:
- Students can confidently read, analyse and evaluate literature using specific and ambitious vocabulary.
- We strive for our students to become lifelong lovers of literature by exposing them to a range of diverse texts throughout their time at Whitecross.
- We empower students to have confidence in their creative ideas allowing them the opportunity to find their written voice and identity.
