Drama is a way of life, an expression of creativity and imagination that is essential to the human experience.

- David Mamet

Drama at Whitecross enables each student to explore their ability to communicate using a diverse range of staring points and themes.  Students will become confident when taking scripts from ‘page to stage’ using theoretical understanding to underpin their learning.

They will have the opportunity to appraise a range of different performances including a range of theatre trips throughout Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 which help to develop their portfolio of performance skills.  Our students have a long history of delivering outstanding performances in an eclectic range of school productions.

This means:

  • Students are able to respond creatively and personally to a variety of different sources and starting points.
  • Students develop a range of thoughtful and nuanced physical and vocal techniques to enhance their performance.
  • Understand how to develop and confidently perform in the roll of a character appropriate to the performance.
  • Learn a range of practical skills found in lighting, costume and sound design to produce an immersive audience experience.
