Responsibilities

The school is an Academy Trust and appoints up to 16 trustees. Trustees are commonly referred to as governors.

They include:

  1. The Headteacher;
  2. Up to three parent governors;
  3. Up to three staff governors;
  4. Up to three co-opted governors;
  5. Further governors may be appointed by the trust.

The three core strategic functions of the Board of Trustees are:

  • Ensuring the clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school;
  • Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its students;
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure that its money is well spent.

Governors are also responsible for ensuring that the school meets statutory requirements. The full Board of Trustees meets four times a year; committees also meet four times a year.
