Whitecross is a fully inclusive school and we aim to give every child the opportunity to reach their true potential by providing carefully targeted intervention.
We are a highly qualified and experienced team of specialist teachers, Higher Level Teaching Assistants and Teaching Assistants who work closely with parents and guardians, the student, Student Services and outside agencies, to enable students to participate fully in school life and in the broader community.
Our involvement with students begins when they are in Year 6 and we monitor their progress and our provision throughout their time with us. We are flexible, approachable, committed and enthusiastic about our work in order to give the best experience of school life to each child whilst in our care. We place great value on our partnership with families and services to ensure that students leave Whitecross with a sense of independence and satisfaction, ready for the next stage in their lives.
SENSE Quality Mark (Special Educational Needs Self Evaluation)
The SENSE Quality Mark supports and celebrates continuous improvement. Whitecross has achieved the highest category of the SENSE Quality Mark Award at the Enhancing Level. Achieving a Quality Mark offers public recognition and ‘a pat on the back’ for the day-to-day work of everyone within the SEN team. The Award is a nationally recognised and external acknowledgement of good practice, progress and provision and is recognised by Ofsted. It celebrates the work of everyone involved including our students and parents and carers, as a team. It recognises the progress made in improving the quality of its provision for our students and the standards they achieve. At Whitecross we are committed to continuous improvement: we want to support our students and their families to achieve success and to be independent learners. The Quality Mark is a rigorous process of self-evaluation followed by an action plan and regular review to help guide and strengthen our provision to ensure we are doing our very best for your family.
